Chase DeLauter Update: Training Camp Roles in Center and Right Field
Chase DeLauter is set to showcase his skills in both center field and right field during the upcoming training camp, as reported by Tim Stebbins of MLB.com. This versatility positions him as a potential everyday outfielder for the Guardians in the 2026 season, with the potential to be a key player in the batting lineup. However, there’s a significant caveat—DeLauter’s ability to maintain his health will be crucial.
Since being selected in the first round of the 2022 draft, DeLauter has faced considerable challenges, playing only 138 regular-season games in the minor leagues due to multiple injuries. Last season was particularly tough, as he managed to participate in just 42 games after undergoing core muscle surgery in March and a subsequent wrist surgery in July. When he is on the field and healthy, DeLauter has demonstrated his offensive prowess, boasting an impressive .888 OPS throughout his minor league career.
