A Global Brand's Australian Debut
Minor Hotels, a global hospitality giant, is bringing its ultra-luxe Anantara Hotels & Resorts brand to Australia for the first time, and Perth is the chosen destination. Dillip Rajakarier, Group CEO of Minor International, believes that Perth's rapid urban and tourism growth makes it the perfect moment for this expansion. "We are delighted to introduce Anantara to Australia. Perth is experiencing rapid development across its urban and tourism landscape, creating the ideal environment for a property of this standard," he said.
A Riverfront Oasis
The Anantara Perth Hotel will be located at the heart of the 38-hectare Burswood Point precinct, offering stunning river and city views. Developed by Golden Sedayu, a partnership between Perth's Golden Group and Indonesian property giant Agung Sedayu, the hotel will have 150 rooms, two destination restaurants, a swimming pool, a fitness center, and an Anantara Spa that will be accessible to the public.
A Premier Destination
Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM), the global architecture firm behind iconic structures like the Burj Khalifa and One World Trade Centre, the broader mixed-use hub will include 15 buildings across residential, retail, commercial, and hospitality spaces. The vision is to create a "connected, walkable, and enduring urban neighbourhood," as SOM Senior Associate Principal Michael Powell explains. "The introduction of a globally recognised brand like Anantara validates our design intent to create a premier destination that balances international appeal with a unique sense of place."
A New Chapter for Burswood Point
The Anantara Perth Hotel will be part of one of Australia's largest urban redevelopment projects in recent years. Over the next two decades, approximately 4,500 new homes will be delivered across the precinct. Construction is already underway on Somerset at Burswood Point, a collection of luxury apartments due for completion in late 2027, alongside green-titled riverfront homes anticipated in early 2028. With its prime location, the hotel is poised to become a flagship tourism drawcard for the evolving waterfront precinct, offering a unique blend of luxury, convenience, and cultural immersion.
